The show follows innocent civilians who volunteer to spend 60 days in jail as undercover inmates to expose issues and provide a first-hand account of life behind bars. The series was filmed in real jails across the country with actual inmates and prison personnel.
Making / Production
The production of 60 Days In required extensive planning and coordination with local law enforcement. The participating jails had to make arrangements to protect the identities and safety of the volunteers. The show employed hidden cameras, microphones and regular camera crews that were presented as a documentary team filming about life in jail, to not arouse suspicion.
