About Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel
The movie Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, released in 2009, is the sequel to the 2007 film Alvin and the Chipmunks. The second installment introduces the Chipettes—Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor—who the chipmunks meet at their school. The plot centers on the Chipmunks and the Chipettes competing in a music contest while also dealing with school life.

Produced by 20th Century Fox and Regency Enterprises, the film is directed by Betty Thomas. The Squeakquel was written by Jon Vitti, Jonathan Aibel, and Glenn Berger, continuing the story of Alvin, Simon, and Theodore.

- Though they play brothers in the film, Justin Long (Alvin) and Jesse McCartney (Theodore) were both born in 1987 and both launched acting careers in 1998.
