The 2005 American horror film "The Amityville Horror" is a major remake of the 1979 film of the same name. The story is an adaptation from Jay Anson's 1977 novel. The basis of the movie is the allegedly true story of the Lutz family who experience terrifying supernatural events after they move into a large Dutch Colonial house in Amityville, New York - a house with a violent past.

Making / Production

Directed by Andrew Douglas and produced by Michael Bay and Andrew Form, the movie was a part of a Platinum Dunes production. Despite it being a remake, the 2005 version added its terrifying twist to the movie plot without radically altering the original story.
