About Army Wives
Army Wives is a patriotic and heartfelt drama that was first aired in 2007 and ran through till 2013. The show focuses on the struggles, dreams, and friendships of a diverse group of women - and one man - living with their spouses and families on an active Army post. The series is filled with the pressures of military life, complex relationships and the sacrifices made by the service families.
The Making / Production
The show was produced by The Mark Gordon Company and ABC Studios. Mark Gordon, Deborah Spera, Katherine Fugate, and Marshall Persinger were the executive producers. It was set on a fictitious base in South Carolina, named Fort Marshall, and explores the lives of Army Wives and their families.
Actors
- Kim Delaney as Claudia Joy Holden - The wife of Michael Holden, Claudia was an integral part of the show and portrayed the strength and resilience of an Army spouse in an excellent way.
- Sally Pressman as Roxy LeBlanc - An impulsive, fiery and dramatic character, Roxy was a crowd favorite whose life becomes entwined with the other military families at the base.
- Brigid Brannagh as Pamela Moran - A former Boston cop, Pamela is the sarcastic and straightforward voice in the group offering a unique perspective.
- Sterling K. Brown as Roland Burton - The only man in the circle of military spouses, Roland confronted the stereotypes and expectations of being a military husband.

- Initially, the show was to be named "Under the Sabers" but was eventually changed to Army Wives.
- The series is based on a non-fiction book named "Under the Sabers: The Unwritten Code of Army Wives" by Tanya Biank.
- The seven seasons of Army Wives make it Lifetime’s longest running original series.

In 2008, the series received a ASCAP Award for Top TV Series. Its cast has also garnered nominations for NAACP Image Awards and Prism Awards.
