Ash vs Evil Dead is a horror comedy-drama television series based on the Evil Dead franchise. First aired in 2015, the show explores the life of Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) who is working as a stock boy, aging lothario, and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who spent 30 years avoiding responsibility after the events of the 1981 movie. His quiet life is interrupted when a Deadite plague threatens to destroy mankind, forcing him back into action.

Making / Production

Created by Sam Raimi, Ivan Raimi, and Tom Spezialy, the show is a continuation of the original Evil Dead movies. It was produced by Rob Tapert, Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Rick Jacobson . The famous horror filmmaker Sam Raimi directed the first episode which was well-received by both critics and audiences.

Actors

• Bruce Campbell reprises his role as Ash Williams, a chain-saw armed demon hunter forced back into fighting the evil dead, after spending 30 years trying to avoid his past. Campbell brings his unique wit and charm to the role transforming Ash into an over-the-top action hero.
• Dana DeLorenzo portrays Kelly Maxwell, a moody wild child trying to outrun her past, who becomes an unlikely comrade-in-arms with Ash. DeLorenzo's sharp performance gives Kelly multi-dimensional weight.
• Ray Santiago as Pablo Simon Bolivar, a loyal sidekick to Ash. Santiago’s performance enriches the series bringing comic relief and endearing vulnerability to Pablo’s character.

• The cabin from the original Evil Dead movie was entirely re-created for the show in New Zealand, including specific details from the original design.

In 2016, the series won the Fangoria Chainsaw Awards for Best TV Supporting Actress (Dana DeLorenzo) and Best TV Makeup/Creature FX, while Bruce Campbell received a nomination for Best TV Actor.
