About Austenland

Austenland is a romantic comedy movie released in 2013, directed by Jerusha Hess. The film revolves around the life of Jane Hayes, a girl who is obsessed with the BBC production of Pride and Prejudice and dreams of a romantic adventure like the ones in Jane Austen's novels. She spends her life savings on a trip to an English resort catering to Austen fans, Austenland, where she hopes to meet her perfect gentleman.

Making / Production

The film was based on Shannon Hale's 2007 novel of the same name. It was produced by Stephenie Meyer, author of the Twilight series, and directed by Jerusha Hess, in her directorial debut. The film was shot in the United Kingdom and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013.
