About Banshee (HBO)

Banshee is a dramatic, action-packed television series created by Jonathan Tropper and David Schickler. It premiered on HBO on January 11, 2013 and ran for four seasons till May 20, 2016. This series provides an exhilarating exploration of the complex lead character integrating himself into a close-knit community, whilst simultaneously trying to keep his past a secret, and dealing with multiple adversaries.

Making / Production

The series was initially intended to be developed for Showtime but finally found its home on Cinemax. Filmed in and around Charlotte, North Carolina, the series beautifully captured the small-town setting of Banshee, Pennsylvania. Greg Yaitanes, an Emmy award-winning director, and in particular well known for his work on 'House M.D.', directed the pilot and was the showrunner throughout the show's airing.

Actors

• Antony Starr: He portrayed the role of the unnamed ex-con assuming the identity of Sheriff Lucas Hood. He delivered a captivating performance showing vulnerability, stoicism, and fierce combat skills.
• Ivana Milicevic: Playing the role of Carrie Hopewell, Hood's long-lost love, Milicevic skillfully depicted a woman torn between her new family and her tumultuous past.
• Hoon Lee: As the transgender hacker, Job, Lee’s performance added wit and a layer of intrigue to the plot.
• Ulrich Thomsen: Playing the role of crime lord Kai Proctor, Thomsen sinisterly embodied a man wielding power amidst the Banshee community.

• The showrunners of Banshee originally met while working on the series 'New Amsterdam'.
• Most of the lead actors on the show are not American: Antony Starr is a New Zealander, Ivana Milicevic is Croatian, and Ulrich Thomsen is Danish.
