"Batman Begins" is a 2005 superhero film directed by Christopher Nolan. The plot explores the origin story of the comic-book hero Batman, his transition from a traumatized youth into a masked vigilante. After witnessing his parents' death, Bruce Wayne leaves Gotham City to understand the criminal mindset. He returns to Gotham, transformed into Batman with the sole goal of wiping out organized crime, while battling his personal demons and a corrupt system.

"Batman Begins" was directed by Christopher Nolan, who co-wrote the screenplay along with David S. Goyer. The film was produced by Emma Thomas, Charles Roven, and Larry Franco, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The cinematography was handled by Wally Pfister, and the film was edited by Lee Smith.

Actors

  • Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Bale perfectly depicted the transformation of a traumatized child into a bold vigilante.
  • Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Wayne's wise and loyal butler. Caine played his character with a perfect blend of humor and sincerity.
  • Gary Oldman as James Gordon, one of the few honest cops in Gotham City. Oldman portrayed Gordon as a strong, upright character with a good moral compass.

  • First Batman movie not to include Gotham City in the opening credits.
