About Black Butler

Black Butler, or Kuroshitsuji, released in 2008 by A-1 Pictures, is an anime series based on a manga of the same name by Yana Toboso. The story revolves around a young aristocrat named Ciel Phantomhive and his demon butler, Sebastian Michaelis. Ciel, who is the head of the Phantomhive estate, has a contract with Sebastian to seek revenge against those who ruined his life and murdered his parents. Once Sebastian fulfills the contract, he is entitled to consume Ciel's soul.

Making / Production

The animation for Black Butler was created by the renowned studio, A-1 Pictures, and directed by Toshiya Shinohara with Hiroyuki Yoshino in charge of scripts. The series first season was aired from October 2008 to March 2009. Following its success, multiple seasons and feature films were produced.
