About Blood Lad
Released in 2013, 'Blood Lad' is a popular Japanese anime television series. Based on the manga series by the same title, created by Yuuki Kodama, this series centers on the life of vampire and district ruler, "Staz C. Blood" who lives in the demon world. Staz, who is obsessed with human world's culture, meets a young human girl, "Yanagi Fuyumi", who accidentally wanders into the demon world. Immediately, Staz takes a keen interest in her and promises to resurrect her after she is consumed by a carnivorous plant and turns into a ghost. Much of the story revolves around their adventures as Staz resolves to bring Fuyumi back to life.
Making / Production
A brainchild of Yuuki Kodama, Blood Lad was first published as a manga series in Young Ace, a monthly Japanese magazine. After gaining popularity, it was adapted into an anime series by Brain's Base, directed by Shigeyuki Miya and written by Takeshi Konuta. The original Japanese version was aired from July to September in 2013, whereas the English version, licensed by Viz Media, was released later.

- Ryota Osaka as Staz C. Blood - Known for his versatile voice-acting skills, Osaka impeccably portrayed the quirky vampire. His performance brought forward Staz's fun-loving spirit and obsession for the human world's culture.
- Iori Nomizu as Fuyumi Yanagi - Nomizu's tender and melodious delivery played a pivotal role in bringing to life the character of a young anime-loving teenager who gets transformed into a wandering ghost.
- Vic Mignogna as Hydrabell - Veteran voice actor Mignogna brought a unique charm to the mysterious character, Hydrabell, with his distinct voice that kept viewers intrigued.
Trivia / Interesting Facts
- The title 'Blood Lad' doesn't actually refer to any sort of lineage or family, but is a nickname given to the character Staz who is a vampire.
- In addition to the main series, there’s also a spin-off manga titled 'Bloody Brat' which explores the characters in a more comedic light.
- 'Blood Lad' is Brain's Base's first and until now the only anime series about vampires.
