About The Brak Show

The Brak Show is an American adult animated sitcom that aired on Cartoon Network's late night programming block, Adult Swim. Set in the fictional neighborhood of 'Cartoon Planet', the series features the bold and entertaining life of Brak, who lives the eccentric suburban life; navigating the world alongside his alien mother and Cuban father.

Brak, a character first introduced on Space Ghost Coast to Coast, became a breakout character on Cartoon Planet, eventually earning his own show. With his naive perspective on life, his quirky family, and remarkable array of friends, The Brak Show offers a unique blend of comedy, contemporary suburban life, and science fiction.

Making / Production

The Brak Show was a creation of Jim Fortier and Pete Smith. It was produced by Williams Street Studios and released by Cartoon Network in 2000. While Fortier and Smith had previously worked on 'Space Ghost Coast to Coast', 'The Brak Show' took a significantly different path in its presentation and humor, focusing more on situational comedy and less on the talk-show format of its predecessor.

Actors

  • Andy Merrill as Brak - Providing the key voice for the titular character, Merrill brings across the innocent and goofy charm of the character, contributing to the series' unique sense of humor.
  • George Lowe as Dad - Using a rich Cuban accent, Lowe brings to life Brak's father, a small-but-tough man who often finds himself embroiled in wild situations.
  • C. Martin Croker as Zorak and Mom - Croker's ability to voice both Zorak, a villainous mantis, and Brak's loving alien mother, showcases his range as a voice actor in this series.
