About Camp Rock
Camp Rock is a musical television film which was released in 2008. The film was directed by Matthew Diamond and produced by Alan Sacks. The storyline revolves around a teen girl, Mitchie Torres, who desperately wants to spend her summer at a prestigious rock camp but can only attend if she works in the kitchen as one of its cooks.
At the camp, she sneaks off to take singing and dancing lessons and meets a pop star who is everything she'd love to be. The film goes onto explore how they grow close and help each other cope with peer pressure and the importance of being true to oneself.
Making / Production
The film was predominantly shot in Ontario, Canada during the summer of 2007. The script was penned by Julie Brown, Paul Brown, Karin Gist and Regina Hicks. The executive producers of the film were Debra Martin Chase and Kevin Lafferty, and was released by Disney Channel Original Movies.
Actors
- Demetria Devonne Lovato as Mitchie Torres – portrayed the role of an aspiring young musician who takes up a job to be able to attend the prestigious camp.
- Joe Jonas as Shane Gray – played the role of the popular pop star, who is initially arrogant but softens upon meeting Mitchie.
- Meaghan Jette Martin as Tess Tyler – was the antagonist of the film, who tries to derail Mitchie as she feels threatened by her potential.
