"The Catcher Was a Spy" is a 2018 war film directed by Ben Lewin. The movie is based on the biography of the same name by Nicholas Dawidoff. The story revolves around the life of Moe Berg, a professional baseball player turned spy for the US Government during WWII. Berg was a man of many talents, not just a Major League Baseball catcher but also an Ivy League graduate and attorney who spoke nine languages. However, behind the plates, Berg was a top-secret spy for the OSS (a forerunner for the CIA), who helped the U.S. win the race against Germany to build the atomic bomb.
