About Charlotte

Charlotte is a 2015 Japanese anime series produced by P.A. Works and Aniplex. The story is set in an alternate universe where a small percentage young people upon reaching puberty are blessed with supernatural abilities, were gathered in Hoshinoumi Academy. One of the main characters, Yu Otosaka uses his power without others knowing and lives a fairly normal, average school life, but soon he meets Nao Tomori who changes his life.

Making / Production

The series was directed by Yoshiyuki Asai and created by Jun Maeda, who also wrote the screenplay, composed the music, and designed the characters with Na-Ga. The concept for Charlotte was developed when Maeda was asked by Aniplex to create another series after the success of Angel Beats! in 2010.

Actors

• Koki Uchiyama as Yu Otosaka. He played the role with a blend of charisma and smoothness, making his character very believable.
• Ayane Sakura as Nao Tomori. Her voice acting brought depth to Nao's character, showing off her strong-willed and earnest persona.
• Momo Asakura as Yusa Nishimori. She played Yusa's cheerful personality while adapting a different tone for Yusa's alter ego, making the character very dynamic.

• The name of the series, "Charlotte," refers to the name of a comet that would pass by Earth every 75 years and is the reason for the special abilities.
• Jun Maeda wrote the series while thinking about the feelings of regret after someone passes away and wanted to convey this in a story.
