About Chicken Little
The 2005 American computer-animated comedy adventure film 'Chicken Little,' produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation tells the story of a small, timid chick who, after causing a huge uproar in his small town when he mistakes a falling acorn for a piece of the sky, becomes determined to regain his reputation. However, when the feared event actually starts happening, Chicken Little has to convince his skeptical town that the sky is really falling to avert a potential catastrophe.
Making / Production
As Disney's first fully computer-animated feature film, Chicken Little took four years to make. It was directed by Mark Dindal and produced by Randy Fullmer. The animation team used Autodesk Maya for creating the characters and scenes. Also, this was Disney's first film without Pixar since the establishment of the latter.
Actors
- Zach Braff as Chicken Little - The central character who is determined to prove his point. Braff brought a charming goofiness to the character that makes him endearing.
- Joan Cusack as Abby Mallard - Abby is Chicken Little's best friend and most loyal supporter, Cusack embodied the quirkiness and warmth of Abby perfectly.
- Steve Zahn as Runt of the Litter - Runt is the comic-relief character of the film, and Zahn played the part with perfect comedic timing and enthusiasm.
- Garry Marshall as Buck Cluck - Chicken Little's father who is initially embarrassed of his son's claims, Marshall played the part with sincere emotion which lends depth to the character.
Trivia / Interesting Facts
- This was Disney's first fully-computer animated movie. Up until its release, they had been collaborating with Pixar for their animated features.
- The movie's script went through over 30 drafts before the final version was approved.
- The film includes numerous references to other famous Disney films like The Lion King and Mulan.
Awards
Although Chicken Little didn't win any major awards, it was nominated for several, including the Annie Award for Best Animated Feature, a Satellite Award for Outstanding Youth DVD, and a Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Animated Movie.
