About Coppelion

Coppelion is a Japanese anime television series that aired in 2013. Fully realized in a post-apocalyptic setting, the story is set in 2036, twenty years after a catastrophic disaster caused by a nuclear meltdown that rendered the old capital of Tokyo into a ghost town due to high radiation. The plot revolves around three girls—Ibara Naruse, Aoi Fukasaku and Taeko Nomura—who were genetically engineered to be immune to radioactive substances and sent into this ghost town, now referred to as the "Old Capital". Their mission: to search for survivors and understand more about the disaster event.

Making / Production

The series, Coppelion, was produced by the studio GoHands and directed by Suzuki Shingo, with Makoto Nakamura as the chief writer. It is adapted from the manga of the same name by Tomonori Inoue. The anime first aired in Japan on October 2, 2013. The series was broadcasted by Animax-Asia for viewers outside Japan.
