About Culture Shock

'Culture Shock' is a 2019 horror movie released as part of the Into the Dark anthology series on Hulu. It is directed by Gigi Saul Guerrero. The movie reflects on the dark side of the American Dream intertwining satirical elements with a suspenseful narrative. The plot follows Marisol, a Mexican woman in pursuit of the American Dream, who crosses illegally into the United States, only to find herself in an American nightmare.

Making / Production

'Culture Shock' was produced under Blumhouse Television and was exclusively released on Hulu. Gigi Saul Guerrero directs the script written by James Benson, Efren Hernandez and Guerrero. It was part of the anthology series "Into the Dark", each episode of which is inspired by a holiday from the month of its release, with 'Culture Shock' fittingly premiered on the Fourth of July.
