Danganronpa: The Animation, released in 2013, is an anime television series based on Spike Chunsoft's murder mystery video game Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. The story revolves around fifteen elite high school students who are trapped in their high school. They are under continuous video surveillance, and they face a unique challenge - murder their fellow students without getting caught to 'graduate', or live out their days together until they die of old age.
Making / Production
Directed by Seiji Kishi, the show is a faithful adaptation of the video game. Lerche, a popular Japanese animation studio, has produced this series. The script was penned by Makoto Uezu, and the characters were designed by Kazuaki Morita. With a blend of both suspense and comedy, this show does a fantastic job at keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.
Actors
- Makoto Naegi: Voiced by Bryce Papenbrook, Naegi is an ordinary student selected to join the prestigious Hope's Peak Academy. He battles and solves the various murder mysteries throughout the series.
- Monokuma: Voiced by Greg Ayres, Monokuma is the principal of the high school and the main antagonist of the series. He keeps the students under tight surveillance and manipulates them into committing murders.
- Kyoko Kirigiri: Voiced by Caitlin Glass, Kirigiri is a fellow student who helps Naegi solve the mysteries surrounding the murders in their school. She plays a crucial role in the unfolding of the plot.
