About Day & Night

"Day & Night" is a Pixar animated short film released in 2010 alongside "Toy Story 3". Directed by Teddy Newton. The story is based on two polar opposite characters ‘Day’ and ‘Night’. They are initially suspicious and fearful of each other, but soon come to realize that each offers a unique perspective on the world, and so they become friends, creating the illusion of a sunrise.

Making / Production

The movie, a unique combination of 2D and 3D film-making techniques, pays homage to the hand-drawn animation style, while seamlessly integrating state-of-the-art digital technology. It marked a significant technical feat for Pixar, as it took traditional hand-drawn animation and combined it with CGI to create a unique storytelling experience.

Actors

  • Wayne Dyer as himself - He has contributed the voice-over in the film. His parts are from his audio book, 'Real Magic'. His narration played a crucial part in the progression of the movie.
  • Tony Fucile as Night - Tony, an animator at Pixar, contributed the voiceover for the character of Night.

  • This was Pixar’s second short to feature both hand-drawn animation and computer animation.
