About DC's Stargirl
DC's Stargirl, or simply Stargirl, is a superhero television series that premiered in 2020. It features Courtney Whitmore, a high school student who discovers the cosmic staff and becomes the inspiration for a new generation of superheroes. The show is filled with action, adventure, coming-of-age drama, and of course, the legacy of DC's superheroes. Stargirl is based on the DC Comics superhero Courtney Whitmore created by Geoff Johns and Lee Moder.
Making / Production
The series, created by Geoff Johns, was announced in July 2018, and premiered in 2020 on DC Universe and The CW. Johns serves as showrunner for the series while being a part of the writing team too. According to Johns, the character of Stargirl was inspired by his sister, making the show quite personal for him.
Actors
- Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore / Stargirl: Brec does a commendable job portraying the young heroine balancing high school with her superheroine responsibilities.
- Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan / Stripesy: Luke takes on the role of Courtney's stepfather who becomes her superhero sidekick in his robot suit.

- The character of Courtney Whitmore/Stargirl was inspired by Geoff Johns' late sister Courtney, who died in the TWA Flight 800 explosion.
