About DECA-DENCE
DECA-DENCE is a 2020 Japanese animation science-fiction TV Series, directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa and produced by animation studio Nut. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world where the surviving human race has built a 3000-meter-high mobile fortress called Deca-dence to protect themselves from a threat known as "Gadoll". Society is divided into Gears, warriors who fight Gadoll, and Tankers, non-combat individuals. The plot revolves around the unlikely partnership between a young Tanker girl named Natsume who aspires to become a Gear, and Kaburagi, a dour repairman who was once a legendary Gear.
Making / Production
The series was unveiled by Nut in December 2019 and aired from July to September 2020 on AT-X and other channels. It was directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa, with Hiroshi Seko as the scriptwriter, Shinichi Kurita as character designer, and Masahiro Tokuda as music composer. A vast amount of work went into creating the post-apocalyptic world and the giant, monstrous creatures known as Gadoll.
Actors
- Tomori Kusunoki as Natsume: A bubbly girl that overcomes her physical limitations and grueling training to become a Gear, a warrior who combats the Gadoll.
