About Demons

Demons is a British supernatural drama television series created by Johnny Capps and Julian Jones, which aired on ITV from the 3rd of January to 7th of February in 2009. Set in contemporary London, the series follows the life of a teenager, Luke Rutherford, who is the last descendant of the Van Helsing line. When he discovers this heritage, he learns his ancestors' mission to slay creatures of the night and this duty is now his.

Making / Production

Demons was commissioned by ITV as a new prime-time drama and produced by Shine Productions. The show was a mix of the supernatural genre with a modern-day setting, intending to bring myths and legends into the 21st century. Despite its modern setting, the series incorporated a Gothic aesthetic, drawing inspiration from the original Van Helsing heritage.

Actors

  • Christian Cooke as Luke Rutherford - The last descendant of Abraham Van Helsing and the protagonist of the series. He discovers his lineage and the duty that comes with it and handles the implications with a sense of responsibility.
