About Destino

Destino is a unique collaboration between Walt Disney and the legendary artist, Salvador Dali. This six minute short film blends Disney's animation with Salvador Dali's dream-like surrealism. Originally conceived in 1945, it was only completed in 2003, almost 58 years later.

Plot Summary

The film tells the story of Chronos, the personification of time, and his ill-fated love for a mortal woman named Dahlia. The story follows Dahlia's journey through bizarre surrealistic landscapes to be reunited with Chronos.

Making / Production

The project began in 1945 when Dali signed a contract with Disney to produce a short film. However, due to financial difficulties, they had to abandon the project. In 1999, Walt Disney's nephew, Roy E. Disney, discovered the unfinished work and decided to complete it. 25 artists worked to finish the project based on Dali's original storyboards and notes.

Actors

Being an animated short film, Destino doesn't feature any traditional acting roles. However, a haunting and beautiful song sung by Dora Luz accompanies the animation.
