About Doctor Who
"Doctor Who" is a British science fiction television series launched in 2005 by the BBC. The show is a significant part of British pop culture and has a cult following worldwide. It is about the adventures of a character known as 'The Doctor,' who is a time-traveling alien from the planet Gallifrey. Possessing an ability to regenerate upon death, the Doctor takes on a human appearance but with an ability to move across both time and space with the help of his time machine, the TARDIS, an acronym for Time And Relative Dimension In Space.

The show was developed by Sydney Newman and produced by the BBC. Reviving a television phenomenon from the classic series that originated in the 60s, Russell T Davies, Julie Gardner, and Phil Collinson were the core team who brought Doctor Who back to life in 2005.
