About Downton Abbey

The 2019 movie 'Downton Abbey' is a historical drama directed by Michael Engler, and its screenplay was written by Julian Fellowes who was also the creator of the acclaimed TV show of the same name. The film continues the storyline of the Crawley family and their servants, set appropriately a year and a half after the end of the series. The plot revolves around a visit from King George V and Queen Mary to Downton Abbey causing a flurry among the Crawleys and huge excitement downstairs.

Making / Production

The movie was produced by Carnival Films and distributed by Focus Features and Universal Pictures International. Principal photography on the film began in September 2018 and wrapped up in November of the same year. Just like the TV show, the film was shot at Highclere Castle in Hampshire, England, which serves as the main location for the series and the film.
