About Down To Earth

"Down To Earth" is a comedy film released in 2001, directed by Chris and Paul Weitz. The film is a modern take on the 1941 film titled "Here Comes Mr. Jordan" and follows the life of a comedian named Lance Barton who, after dying prematurely, is given a second chance at life.

The plot centers around Lance Barton (Chris Rock), a struggling comedian trying to make it big. When he is taken to Heaven too soon by an overzealous angel, Barton is given a chance to return to Earth, though in a new body - the body of a wealthy, recently deceased businessman. Barton has to adapt to his new life, try to win the heart of his dream girl, and make his comedy career successful.
