About Elementary

Elementary is a modern-day retelling of the classic detective story of Sherlock Holmes, set in New York City. The series kicked off in 2012, with Holmes (played by Jonny Lee Miller), a recovering drug addict, as a consultant to the NYPD. It introduces Dr. Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) as a sober companion hired by Holmes's father. As the series unfolds, Watson transitions from sober companion to consulting detective under Holmes's mentorship.

The show was created by Robert Doherty and produced by CBS Television studios. The series was shot on various locations in New York City which gives authenticity to a setting that is not commonly seen on television.

• Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes: Miller expertly portrays Holmes as a troubled yet genius detective with his unconventional methods and quirky behaviors.
• Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson: Liu brings a unique depth and wit to Watson's character as she nails the part of a former surgeon turned sober companion and eventually, a detective.
• Aidan Quinn as Captain Thomas Gregson: Quinn masterfully plays the character of the no-nonsense police captain who grows to respect Holmes and Watson.
