About Elephant

"Elephant" is a captivating documentary movie released in 2020. It follows the touching journey of an African elephant named Shani and her energetic son Jomo, who embark on an enormous journey across the sprawling Kalahari Desert, following the route of their ancestors from the fertile Okavango delta to the Zambezi River. Being among the few remaining elephants on earth that still make such lengthy migrations, their journey is poignantly significant.

Among the herd is a 40-year-old Shani, the mother to a curious one-year-old Jomo. Shani is next in line as matriarch, a role currently held by her elder sister Gaia. As the seasons change in their habitat, the water level dramatically depletes. The water, flowing from the mountains into the desert, often vanishes, transforming the green oasis back into a parched desert. Gaia's herd, along with countless other species, rely on this water for their survival, setting up a frantic migration each season.
