About The Finest Hours
The Finest Hours is a 2016 American action-thriller film directed by Craig Gillespie and produced by Walt Disney Pictures. The movie takes us back in time to 1952, chronicling a historic U.S. Coast Guard Rescue. When a massive winter storm strikes off the coast of Cape Cod, it rips a T-2 oil tanker in half, trapping more than 30 sailors inside its rapidly sinking stern. Engineer Ray Sybert bravely takes charge to organize a strategy for his fellow survivors. As word of the disaster reaches the Coast Guard in Chatham, Massachusetts, Officer Bernie Webber takes a small boat and a crew of three men to stage a daring rescue mission.

Directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Scott Silver, Paul Tamasy, and Eric Johnson, the film adoption was based on the true story book 'The Finest Hours: The True Story of the U.S. Coast Guard's Most Daring Sea Rescue' by Michael J. Tougias and Casey Sherman. The production involved careful recreation of 1952's setting and obsessive attention to the factual detail of the actual events which was accomplished by the behind-the-scenes efforts of a large production team.
