About Firefly

Firefly is a space western drama television series which first aired in 2002, created by Joss Whedon. It's set in the year 2517, post-Earth's inhabitable exodus, and follows the adventures of the renegade crew of Serenity, a Firefly-class spaceship. The show blends elements of western and science fiction genres into a futuristic yet familiar world. It explores the lives of its characters put in disparate situations, between the corrupt, centralized power of the Alliance and the other frontier-like civilizations.

Making / Production

The series was produced by Mutant Enemy Productions in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Whedon served as an executive producer along with Tim Minear. Despite its short lifespan, the show which aired only 14 episodes, is intensely popular among fans and has since become a cult favorite.
