About First Man Into Space

"First Man into Space" is a 1959 British science-fiction horror film produced by Charles F. Vetter and directed by Robert Day. The screenplay revolves around the character of Lieutenant Dan Prescott, an ambitious, overzealous astronaut who, disregarding orders, becomes the first man to travel to space. However, he ends up transforming into a monstrous creature when his craft comes into contact with a dust cloud composed of alien particles.

Making / Production

The movie was produced by British film company Amalgamated Productions in association with American company MGM. The set was designed to resemble a realistic outer space environment, and the creature effects were created using primitive mask-making and prosthetics techniques.

Actors
