Flavors of Youth: International Version is a drama anime TV show that was released in 2018. 1. "The Rice Noodles" (Hidamari no Chōshoku): This story is set in Guangzhou and follows a young man named Xiao Ming. It explores the bond between Xiao Ming and his grandmother through their shared love for traditional rice noodles.
2. "A Little Fashion Show" (Chiisana Fashion Show): This story takes place in Shanghai and centers around a former model named Yi Lin. It delves into Yi Lin's struggle with the pressures of the fashion industry and her desire to relive her past glory.
3. "Love in Shanghai" (Shanghai Koi): This story follows a young man named Limo and his childhood friend, Qiu Yue, in Shanghai. It depicts their bittersweet love story and the challenges they face as they grow apart.

Each story highlights different aspects of Chinese culture and society while portraying the universal experiences of youth, love, and personal growth.

Making / Production

Flavors of Youth: International Version is a co-production between Japan and China, aiming to showcase the beauty of Chinese culture and intertwine it with relatable themes. The animation was primarily handled by CoMix Wave Films, known for their work on Makoto Shinkai's films, while Haoliners Animation League contributed to the production.

The directors Li Haoling, Jiaoshou Yi Xiaoxing, and Yoshitaka Takeuch collaborated closely to ensure the consistency and coherence of the storytelling across the three different parts of the show. They wanted to create a visually stunning series that would captivate audiences while also delivering powerful emotional narratives.
