About Free Guy

"Free Guy" is a 2021 American science fiction action comedy film directed by Shawn Levy. Non-player character Guy discovers he is part of a video game and decides to become the hero of his own story. As he tries to save his world from getting shut down, he must fight against the creator of the game.

The film was directed by Shawn Levy, making it his first feature film in five years. It was shot in Boston, MA and involved extensive use of green screens and CGI to recreate the video game world.
