About No Game No Life
No Game No Life is a Japanese light novel series written and illustrated by Yu Kamiya. It was released as an anime television series in 2014 consisting of 12 episodes. The plot follows Sora and Shiro, two hikikomori step-siblings renowned in the online gaming world. Their story takes a turn when they are summoned by a boy named God to an alternate world where everything is determined by games. Here, they aim to unite the 16 races of this world and challenge Tet, the one who summoned them.
Making / Production
The anime adaptation of No Game No Life was directed by Atsuko Ishizuka, produced by Madhouse and written by Jukki Hanada. Music was provided by Super Sweep and it aired on AT-X between April and July 2014. It has since been released on Blu-ray in Japan and was streamed by Crunchyroll.
Actors
- Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Sora: Matsuoka's portrayal of the shut-in yet cunning Sora was highly acclaimed. His voice acting skill brought out Sora's tactical genius and eccentric personality.
- Ai Kayano as Shiro: Kayano played Shiro, the quieter sibling, who despite her withdrawn personality, is shown as a mathematical genius. Kayano's calm tones perfectly matched Shiro's character.

- Although visually appearing to be a fantastical series, the show has many references to classic and contemporary gaming, including references to chess, poker, and various video games.
- Shiro's drawings are all done by hand because the author, Yu Kamiya, can't use a computer well.
