"Gate," also known as "Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri" is an anime TV series adapted from a Japanese novel series written by Takumi Yanai. Released in 2015, the show follows the story of the JSDF (Japan Self-Defense Forces), led by Otaku soldier Youji Itami, who explore the mysterious gate that connects their world to another filled with elves, dragons, and a variety of supernatural creatures. The series is a fascinating mix of fantasy, action, and political drama, creating a unique narrative traversing across cultures and worlds.

Making / Production

The series was produced by A-1 Pictures, directed by Takahiko Kyōgoku, and scripted by Tatsuhiko Urahata. Actors

• Youji Itami: Voiced by Junichi Suwabe, Itami is depicted as an Otaku JSDF officer who balances his soldier duties with his love for all things geek. Junichi Suwabe excellently lends his voice to this multifaceted character providing depth and humor.
• Tuka Luna Marceau: Tuka Luna Marceau is portrayed by Hisako Kanemoto, an Elven warrior affected by the horrors of war. Kanemoto’s voice acting skills brings out Tuka’s vocal range, from her initially traumatized state to her eventual recovery.
• Rory Mercury: Risa Taneda voices Rory Mercury, a demigoddess and priestess who joins Itami’s group. Taneda manages to capture Rory’s complex character, oscillating between bloodthirsty warrior and playful companion.
• Lelei La Lalena: Voiced by Nao Touyama, Lelei is a magician and scholar from the Special Region. Nao's performance adds an intellectual flair to the group's dynamic.
