About Generation Kill (HBO)
'Generation Kill' is an American seven-part miniseries produced by HBO, premiered on July 13, 2008. The miniseries was adapted from the award-winning book of the same name by the journalist Evan Wright. It tells the story of the First Recon Marines as they embark on the first phase of the American military assault on Iraq in 2003.
Making / Production
The miniseries was produced by David Simon, Ed Burns, and George Faber. It was shot over a period of about six months and involved extensive research and preparation to accurately portray the events and conditions of the Iraq War. The production team went to great lengths to get authentic military gear and weapons to make the depiction as real as possible.
