About The Goddess of Spring

The Goddess of Spring is a fantastical, animated musical short film produced by Walt Disney Productions which was released on November 3, 1934. The plot showcases the descent of the joyous Goddess of Spring, Persephone, into the underworld. She is forced into marriage with Pluto, the god of the underworld. Initially, she struggles with her new life, but eventually, manages to bring a touch of spring, leading to a compromise that ensures both the underworld and the world above receive her warmth equally.

Making / Production

The Goddess of Spring was a step by Disney towards the creation of their first-ever feature-length cartoon, Snow White, and the Seven Dwarfs. This particular short was where they tested technically complex techniques - especially in the animation of realistic human figures.

Actors
