About "Godzilla 2000"

"Godzilla 2000" is a Japanese science fiction kaiju film that marked the start of the Millennium series of films. This film was directed by Takao Okawara and produced by Shogo Tomiyama. The movie was released in Japan in 1999.

In the film plot, the mysterious Godzilla Protection Network (GPN) is exploring recent evidence of Godzilla's existence when they encounter the giant monster. Meanwhile, scientists from a failing power company discover a giant rock formation at the bottom of the ocean, which turns out to be an alien life form that transforms into a gigantic indestructible spaceship. The alien vessel uncovers Godzilla's genetic secrets with disastrous consequences, projecting a bigger threat than Godzilla himself.

Production / Making

The film was produced by Toho Pictures and was initially aimed at the Japanese audience. However, following its popularity in Japan, it was released internationally the following year. The production design of the film was led by Takeshi Shimizu. CGI technology was eminently used for the depiction of Godzilla and the alien spaceship.

Actors
