The Hunt for Red October is a thrilling 1990 movie directed by John McTiernan. It was based on Tom Clancy's best-selling novel. The plot revolves around Marko Ramius(Sean Connery), a Lithuanian submarine commander, who aims to defect to the United States with his officers and the Soviet Union's latest nuclear missile submarine, "Red October".

Making / Production

The movie's production was a mammoth task due to the numerous under-water scenes. John McTiernan meticulously planned each scene using miniature models before shooting the actual scene. They made extensive use of a massive water tank, and a lifesize model of the Red October.
