About The Immortal Story

The Immortal Story is a 1968 film, directed and written by Orson Welles, based on a short story by Isak Dinesen. A merchant in 19th-century Macao becomes obsessed with making a novella's scene come to life. Mr. Clay, an old, rich, cynical merchant who remembers his past, hires a sailor Virgil to pretend to be the protagonist in a fictitious story he narrates.
