Kingdom of Heaven is a 2005 epic historical drama film directed by Ridley Scott. The film is an epic tale set during the Crusades of the 12th century. A blacksmith named Balian (Orlando Bloom) has lost his family and nearly lost his faith. The religious wars raging in the far-off Holy Land seem remote to him, yet he is pulled into that immense drama. Becoming a knight, Balian joins the fray and strives to maintain a fragile peace.
