"Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck" is a 2015 American documentary about the life of Nirvana lead singer Kurt Cobain, directed by Brett Morgen. The documentary chronicles the life of Kurt Cobain from his birth in Aberdeen, Washington in 1967, through his troubled teenage years and successful musical career, to his suicide in April 1994. It includes interviews with Cobain's family and friends, as well as extensive candid footage from Cobain's personal archive.

Making / Production

The film took eight years to complete. Brett Morgen began working on it after he was approached by Cobain's widow, Courtney Love. Morgen was granted unprecedented access to Cobain's archives, including his artwork, photography, journals, and home movies. The film was produced by HBO Documentary Films.
