About The Lion King

Released in 1994, The Lion King is an American animated musical drama film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The plot revolves around a young lion prince named Simba who's born in the Pride Lands of Africa to King Mufasa and Queen Sarabi. After the tragic death of Mufasa orchestrated by the malevolent Scar, Simba goes into exile but eventually returns to reclaim his rightful throne.

Making / Production

The production of The Lion King originated in a conversation between Jeffrey Katzenberg, Roy E. Disney, and Peter Schneider on a plane to Europe promoting Oliver & Company. Several titles were considered for the film, including "King of the Jungle" and "King of Beasts," but ultimately The Lion King was chosen because of its innate sense of power and instinct.
