The Lion King is a 2019 American musical film directed and produced by Jon Favreau. It's a remake of Disney's 1994 animated film of the same name. The film follows the journey of a young lion prince, Simba, who after the murder of his father, King Mufasa, by his treacherous uncle Scar, flees his kingdom only to learn the true meaning of responsibility and bravery, and reclaim his throne.

The film was produced by Walt Disney Pictures and directed by Jon Favreau. Though it appears to be animated, the film utilizes photorealistic computer-generated imagery technology to give the appearance of real-life animals and environments.
