About The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea

The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea is a 2000 animated film produced by Walt Disney Television Animation. In the sequel to the 1989 Disney classic, the story revolves around Ariel's daughter Melody, who is eager to explore the sea but must hide her mermaid heritage in response to a threat from Ariel's old enemy, Morgana. Defying her mother's instructions, Melody sets off on an adventure to unlock the secrets of her past.

Produced by Leslie Hough and David Lovegren, the film was directed by Jim Kammerud and Brian Smith. The screenplay was written by Elise D'Amico and Temple Mathews. The creators ensured to maintain the beloved elements from the original film whilst introducing new characters and conflicts.

Actors

  • Jodi Benson voiced Ariel. Continuing her iconic role from the original film, Benson lends her voice with the same warmth and charm that made Ariel a beloved character.
  • Tara Strong voiced Melody, Ariel's adventurous and curious daughter. Strong brings depth and relatability to the character of Melody
