About Martin
Martin is an American television sitcom that aired on Fox from 1992 to 1997. The series was created by John Bowman, Topper Carew, and Martin Lawrence. The sitcom centered on Martin Payne (Martin Lawrence), a jocular and free-spirited radio and television personality, and his often eccentric group of friends and family. The storylines were known for their absurd, often surreal humor, and heavy emphasis on slapstick comedy. While the series was primarily comedic, it also touched on serious social and personal issues at times.
Making / Production
The series was filmed in front of a studio audience in West Hollywood, California. Lawrence served as the series’ executive producer, alongside writers Benny Medina and Jeff Pollack. The memorable sets, crisp directing, especially from classic sitcom director Gerren Keith, and vibrant writing from creators Carew and Bowman, helped to make the series stand out amongst other 90s sitcoms.
