"Marvel One-Shot: All Hail the King" is a 2014 American direct-to-video short film featuring the Marvel Comics character Trevor Slattery, produced by Marvel Studios and termed as a one-shot film. The film echoes the aftermath of "Iron Man 3", where Slattery is now imprisoned and telling of his experiences to a documentary filmmaker.
The plot revolves around Trevor Slattery (Sir Ben Kingsley), who is living the high life in prison due to his guise as "The Mandarin." A documentary filmmaker (Scoot McNairy) interviews him, seeking to learn more about his story. However, all is not as it seems as the documentarian has a hidden agenda linked to The Ten Rings terrorist group.
Making / Production
"All Hail the King" was released on the home media release of "Thor: The Dark World." The film was written and directed by Drew Pearce. It was a follow-up to "Iron Man 3", amidst fan’s backlash in regard to the depiction of the Mandarin character. The one-shot was Marvel's response, making clear the real 'Mandarin' exists within their universe.
