About Mistress America
"Mistress America" is a 2015 American comedy film directed by Noah Baumbach, and co-written by Baumbach and Greta Gerwig. The plot revolves around a lonely college freshman in New York, Frances (played by Lola Kirke), who escapes her looming disappointment by heading off into the life of her future step-sister, Brooke (played by Greta Gerwig), an adventurous and outlandish 30-year-old living in Times Square. As Brooke's plans for her next great business adventure fails, both of them somehow grow and find out who they truly are.
Making / Production
The shooting for "Mistress America" commenced in May 2014, with Gerwig and Baumbach both serving as the film's producers. This film was also the pair's second collaboration following "Frances Ha". Fox Searchlight Pictures acquired worldwide rights to this film, and it enjoyed its premiere at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.
