About Mom and Dad Save the World (HBO)

'Mom and Dad Save the World' is a 1992 American comic science fiction film. The plot revolves around a suburban couple who are abducted to a distant planet by an evil tyrant with a sinister scheme. Dick (Jon Lovitz), the self-proclaimed Emperor of planet Spengo, sees Marge Nelson (Teri Garr) through his telescope and instantly falls in love. He devises a plan to make her his queen by kidnapping her and her husband, destroying earth in the process.

The film is directed by Greg Beeman with scripts penned by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon. It was a co-production of Highgate Pictures and HBO. Released on July 24, 1992, the budget of the movie was approximately $14M.
