About Moral Orel
Moral Orel is an American adult stop-motion animated television show produced by ShadowMachine Films. It aired from 2005 to 2008 on Cartoon Network's late-night programming block, Adult Swim. The series is a satirical exploration of a young boy named Orel Puppington's life in the fictional town of Moralton, where he naïvely tries to live by his religious fanatic parents’ flawed teachings. He yearns to be as good a Christian as possible, but his efforts often lead to surreal and uncomfortable circumstances.
Making / Production
The series was created by Dino Stamatopoulos, who also served as a writer and director. Puppets used in the show were created using stop-motion animation, with sets reminiscent of 1950s sitcoms juxtaposed with the dark themes and subject matter of the show.
Actors
- Scott Adsit - Plays the role of Clay Puppington, Orel's father. He delivers a deeply flawed character with a balance of humor and pathos.
- Carolyn Lawrence - She voices Orel himself, creating an earnest and innocent character continually contented with his faith despite the grim realities of his life.
- Britta Phillips - Plays Bloberta Puppington, Orel's mother. Her portrayal is both hauntingly melancholic and comically offputting in equal measure.
Trivia / Interesting Facts
